Do You Actually Need IELTS? It Depends on the Country
For the UK, Canada and Australia the answer is almost always yes, or an accepted equivalent like PTE. In Germany many English-taught master's programmes accept a medium-of-instruction letter from your university instead. Malaysia is the most flexible: several universities run their own English placement test on arrival. The mistake students make is booking a test date before knowing which of their targets require it.
